Can you say Kombucha!!!
I remember my first interaction with Kombucha and it wasn't pretty. Now, when I tell you this story keep in mind that this was in the time frame of my transition, changing my eating habits from conventional (food that has been sprayed with chemicals) to organic and I was a newbie to the health food industry but my mission was clear and my mind was made up I will never look at food the same way again. I decided to have lunch at a local health food store and drag my brother along while convincing him to switch and join me in this quest to find wellness. Trust me he's a hard egg to crack. It's been about 8 yrs and I still catch him with fast food wrappers in his car.. I guess some people, even when they learn the truth, decide to ignore it or the change is too drastic. In this case I will keep on him because that is what I do when I care about someone<3
Anyways, we picked out our lunches and drinks, we wanted to try something new so Kombucha looked interesting so I picked a red pretty color and my brother got the purple one. We sat down and began eating I opened mine 1st it made a sound similar to soda when you open it. When I took my 1st sip WOW!! It is strong stuff and I didn't expect it! Kombucha is definitely an acquired taste. I returned both Kombuchas and picked out new drinks... Little did I know how amazing Kombucha is, all the long list benefits it has and if only I knew then what I know now! I could have avoided some health issues that I was dealing with at the time but hey, we live and we learn!!
Ok! So what is Kombucha? Fermented mushroom tea... Yes, I know some of you are say ewww! I said the same thing. I have come to really enjoy the taste and even crave it. When you give up all of these fake foods filled with artificial ingredients, high fructose, bleached sugar (real sugar is not white by the way) and other unnatural flavor enhancers you can taste what real food is and you are freeing yourself from the world of chemicals. There is nothing like the feeling of freeing yourself from the hold that food has over you. I find it refreshing to walk through the grocery store and not wanting the chips or cookies anymore. I don't want them because I don't crave them ...I consider that food freedom and I will never go back to my old ways!
