Bone Density Testing

Do you know how strong your bones are?
Meet the Achilles Express!
Note..it's the machine in the picture)

Working at a Health Food store has it's advantages! I have met the most interesting, knowledgeable and well known people in the industry. These faces have been in the alternative medicine business for over 20 years and they are the gateway to success! I rarely toot my own horn but I must have done something right. I had the pleasure of peeking behind the curtains and experience what I like to call  "I work at a health food store freedom."

So in other words I no longer work at a health food store, I work at ALL of them:)

Ok, I promise to clarify:) Working at a health food store is retail job and the same rules apply. The same long hours, facing the store, inventory, cleaning etc, you get the point, right? What I was doing today was completely different and I'll explain why. Today I got an opportunity to perform bone density tests:) Yes, I am officially a Bone Technician!

I was asked to meet up at local health food stores and set up the "Achilles Express" machine. I'll be traveling to a different store each time preforming bone density tests. The tests were done on mostly women because women are known to have bone issues vs men although men were welcomed:)  The tests are designed to spot signs of Osteopenia or Osteoporosis.

This machine is amazing and does not use harmful radiation, instead this technology uses sound waves to get an accurate reading. Customers have even admitted that they compared it to a recent Dexa scan and results were the same! We use the same charts as medical professionals and best of all it is Free! Yes I said free:) So ask your local health food store when will they have bone density testing so you can get yours.

If you have Osteopenia or Osteoporosis you need to take a good calcium supplement and eat plenty of GREENS! Please be careful and look for natural ways to increase you bone density rather than taking a drug with harmful side effects! These drug do not increase anything and are extremely acidic which only leads to soft and brittle bones in the long run. No to mention liver and kidney damage!

Natural Sources of Calcium are:

Almonds: Contain more calcium than any other nut, and they are also good sources of fiber, folic acid, magnesium, potassium and protein. So anything made from almonds such as almond milk! Yum!

Blackstrap molasses: Provides the most minerals, such as calcium, iron and potassium, which are extracted from refined sugar in the refining process. So just buy the good stuff:)

Figs: Excellent source of calcium, supplying almost 100 milligrams in just four. They are also high in iron, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorous.

Dark leafy greens: Great sources of calcium, including varieties like kale, mustard greens and spinach. In fact, kale contains more calcium per ounce than milk! Spinach has high amounts of oxalic acid which can inhibit the body's ability to assimilate the calcium, so it should not be eaten as a main calcium source all of the time. To increase the body's ability to absorb the many nutrients found in spinach, adding foods high in vitamin C helps to cancel out the effect of oxalic acid.

If you don't like these foods or simply don't have time to eat them, I suggest to take a good calcium supplement and the company I like is called *Rainbow Light* because it is food based which makes it very easy to digest and it is very affordable. Here's the link below for info:)

*Be grateful for your body:) It's the only one you have! Until next time, Sfly
